Project X Masks

August 19, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I am really excited to be producing masks for the next Project X Presents Digital Dystopia (performance September 13th at Busk). I have been re visiting some classic Dystopian films like Blade Runner and Brazil as well as reading lots of Philip K. Dick

Masks were my first link with project X in 2006 when I delivered a mask work session for performance Troupe Unterwelt . I loved leading the workshop. But was blown away by the atmosphere, the ethos and the drive of the people involved.

A couple of my masks appeared in the November Project X but my main focusĀ  was co ordinating the performance.

But for Digital Dystopia I am designing and creating them specifically. There will be 4 masks for the Performer/Ushers and one for Tony, The Lab who has some really exciting ideas for what will greet the audience as they arrive. Think Big Brother. The masks will work with the visual impact of the fantastic costumes being designed and created by Deb

I have also been asked to create a mask for Dj Marc Reck specifically to go with his end set which will also involve live percussion from Paul and Tribal Fusion Belly Dancing from Khalgani

If you haven’t already you can check out the previous Project X’s here and find out more of what is lined up for the September Gig. It’s well worth checking out and involvement is actively encouraged.
